The new millennium is upon us. We are in an age of new energy, new potential, but we face new demands. Time appears to be speeding up, the world's problems are becoming more complex, and the levels of stress in our every day lives are increasing disproportionately. As the intensity of the energy continues to rise, opportunities, as well as demands, confront us. For those who are aware and willing, the opportunities for growth, physically, psychologically, and spiritually are unparalleled in our history. Life today is like surfing an enormous Hawaiian wave; it can either give you the ride of your life, or if opposed, crush you. Many sense a spiritual plan behind these dramatic life changes. Along with the difficulties and severe challenges, new discoveries are being made that can help us cope with life, heal from disabling conditions and make incredible leaps in consciousness. As a psychotherapist, bodyworker and healer, what used to take me months and years to accomplish with patients, now can be achieved in hours, days and weeks. Exciting new techniques, methodologies, and healing modalities are being given to us that can provide rapid and often permanent relief to patients. What we, as healers are witnessing, is that though the intensity of life has dramatically increased, the tools to deal with this increasing intensity have been given to us. What is taking place in the new healing energy is the melding of the sciences. Healers are challenged to grow beyond their one specialty and narrow approach to healing used in the old energy. Through intuition, learning from other professionals, and experimenting with new ideas, healers can increase their power. When using complimentary treatments, a synergy occurs which potentiates the healing power significantly more than any one specialized treatment can do. My own work validates the truth of this approach to healing. In my practice, I have taken a multimodal treatment approach that combines the therapeutic systems of Myofascial Unwinding, Myofascial Release and Energetic healing, supported by counseling and Thought Field Therapy. This combination of healing modalities can free the body of energetic blockages, correct structural problems, provide pain relief, reduce stress, and accelerate healing from the effects of physical and psychological trauma. In so doing, the consciousness of the patient is altered and awakens their spiritual energies. Below, I will define, describe and explain the therapeutic components of 'transformational Healing in the New Energy." Myofascial UnwindingEnergy Cysts: When accidents, injuries and traumas occur, both physical and psychological, the victim who is unable to dissipate the effects of such pathological forces retains them in his/her body/mind. These walled-off abnormal forces form what Dr. John Upledger calls "energy cysts." These areas of dysfunction disturb the body's energy system and inhibit normal and optimal functioning. Those who are energetically blocked suffer fear, anxiety, pain, weakness, confusion and powerlessness. Without effective treatment, symptoms grow worse. Discouraged, hopeless, lost and despairing, these individuals go from therapist to therapist seeking relief. Myofascial Unwinding is a powerful therapy for unblocking energy cysts. By sensitively supporting the patient's body, an adept therapist can neutralize the effects of gravity and facilitate the discovery and expression of the body's own inherent movements. Taking the path of least resistance and allowing the patient's body to move spontaneously, the healer can assist the patient to recapitulate positions that have been associated with trauma and injury, both physical and psychological in origin. Typically as this occurs, the patient will relive the traumatic experience including the emotions associated with it. However, even without recovering memories and emotions, the very nature of the unwinding process itself results in stress relief, physical restructuring, profound relaxation, feelings of serenity and mystical experience. Following such treatment, bodily dysfunction and symptoms improve, often dramatically, and patients begin to enjoy improved mood, peace, and a deep sense of well being. The Still Point: As an individual unwinds, i.e., moves inherently and automatically, the patient's body will eventually come to a halt, seem rigid, and get stuck in a position. This cessation of movement is called a still point. It is as if the body senses danger, makes a 911 call and shuts down. What shuts down is the cranial sacral system. The cranial sacral system includes the skull, brain, spinal cord and meningeal membranes which cover the brain and spinal cord, cerebral spinal fluid and all the structures related to the production and containment of that fluid. It possesses its own rhythmic activity. Palpable, the cranial sacral system moves at between 6 to 12 cycles per minute. When the system shuts down into a still point, according to Upledger and Vredevoogd, the individual deeply relaxes, pain can disappear, breathing changes, and tension melts away. John Barnes, a pioneer in the field of Myofascial Unwinding and Myofascial Release, states, "A still point is always a positive therapeutic event, as this is when memories and emotions surface, the myofascial structures release their restrictions, and the neuromuscular system reorganizes." During Myofascial Unwinding, many such still points can occur. Like unkinking a hose under pressure, as one kink is released, the pressure flows to the next restriction. As more releases occur, momentum increases, power is gained and even the most resistant blockages can be successfully opened. After each release, the cranial sacral motion resumes with a smoother, higher amplitude. In addition, the individual subsequently is able to move more spontaneously and automatically with greater ease and freedom. It is the unique state of consciousness brought about by the cessation of the cranial sacral rhythm that allows for the healing of energy cysts, emotional scars and physical conditions and also releases powerful spiritual energies. Even after many individual treatment modalities have failed to provide relief, e.g. physical therapy, psychotherapy, chiropractic, medications, surgery, etc., Myofascial Unwinding can succeed. Such is the power of what takes place during a still point. Perhaps the function of the still point is to provide the opportunity to access levels of consciousness normally separated within the consciousness of the individual so that complete healing can occur. Can this be a mystical experience, an opportunity for communicating across dimensions, a melding of conscious and unconscious processes, and the union of the corporeal and noncorporeal? Does the still point allow for the suspension of vigilance by some protective force in the unconscious, fearful of losing control? The DC Shift: At the time of trauma, it is likely that a state of mind, emotions, biochemistry and psychic energy unique to that moment is created. Rev. Rosalyn Bruyere, clairvoyant from childhood, has observed auras enormously expand during such traumatic moments. She calls this phenomenon a DC Shift. Dr. Valerie Hunt at UCLA has validated her observations. Bruyere states that trauma is the principle experience that ordinarily brings on a DC Shift. During this shift, when people are highly programmable, traumas remain in the subconscious and continue to exert an influence. Rev. Bruyere states, 'since the DC Shift is a way to access the subconscious mind, data that goes into the subconscious during a trauma cannot be released from the subconscious until a shift of the same magnitude or intensity is attained." We cannot change any attitude, nor alter how we feel or release the experience until we reach the amplitude of the original traumatic event again... therapies such as [Myofascial Unwinding] are ways to reacquire the expanded field..." Reversible Amnesia: John Barnes theorizes that, "During a still point, a reversible amnesia surfaces, replaying all the physiologic responses, memories, and emotional states that occurred during a past traumatic event... What is learned or remembered at the time of trauma is dependent on the psychophysiology state of the individual at the time of the experience. This disassociation or block, between the conscious and subconscious minds, is the source of many poor or temporary therapy results. Reactivating the conditions and the resultant physiologic responses during which they were acquired by this flashback phenomenon, allow for conscious awareness and then the choice to change." Neurotic Vigilance: Long after the memory of trauma has faded, the traumatized individual carries trapped energy in his/her body/mind. This negative, fear-driven force continues to exert an insidious influence on the unhealed person. From that inner pressure, an enduring state of vigilance is created. This hyper-alertness is unrelenting and it requires a constant supply of energy to maintain. Sleep, digestion, and relaxation are impaired in addition to deleterious effects on the immune system. The antidote to neurotic vigilance is trust. When the connection between the healer and patient is sufficiently strong to allow for a relaxation of defenses and vigilance, the patient will experience painful memories and emotions. When they surface, the healer can assist the patient to go through them, release them, and heal. No longer controlled by fear, the patient regains power, confidence, and security. Free of the ghost of the trauma, energy no longer being drained by neurotic vigilance, empowered by overcoming the monster within, the patient learns the truth of what Nietzsche said: 'that which does not kill you, makes you stronger." Unwinding StanStan sought my help because he felt burned out, burdened by life, suffered from tension, neck pain, and severe headaches. His headaches were becoming so unbearable, Stan feared he could not maintain his position as an executive in a marketing firm. Attempts to obtain help from various therapists had failed and he was becoming dependent on pain medication which gave him only minimal relief. At a loss as to what to do about his condition, he had been referred to me. During his first two treatments, I used Myofascial Release and Guided Healing Touch. Stan's stress diminished, he was able to relax, and his headaches were far fewer and much milder. On the third session, Stan was lying on his back as I was decompressing his cervical vertebrae. I noticed as I continued to release the fascial restrictions in his neck, that Stan's arm began to move and jerk slightly. As I balanced his head with one hand, I lifted his arm with the other so that it could be free to move. Stan's head began to turn to the right as his left arm described an arc with his hand coming to rest above his eyes. It appeared to me that Stan was protecting himself from an expected blow. In this position, Stan's limbs became rigid and his body looked as if it would coil in upon itself. Tears began to trickle from his eyes as he remained locked in the position into which his body had moved him. Stan was in a still point. I commented to him, 'stan, it seems as though your body is making a 911 call. What are you feeling?" Stan did not verbally respond but his tears began to flow more profusely, followed by weeping; then he broke into sobs. I left Stan's upper body in its stuck position and in response to an intuition, I moved to attend to his legs. After I moved to the end of the table, I gently lifted his legs and slightly compressed them from the soles of his feet. Stan's legs bent, his knees moved to his chest, his body turned to the right and his hands held his head on either side protecting it and his face. Stan began to cry and shake uncontrollably. From his legs, I moved to stand at Stan's back. With one arm, I cradled his neck and with my other arm, I circled his bent legs so that I could hold him in a fetal position on the table. Immediately, I could feel Stan's body start to rock so I exaggerated the motion. Urgently, Stan cried out, "Don't let him hurt me! I"ll be good! I"ll be good!" His sobs racked his body. As I continued to rock him, I quietly said, "Just cry it out Stan, It's okay. You are safe now." After a time, Stan's body became heavier in my arms. His breathing became deeper and more even. I could feel Stan's arms begin to soften, his legs start to relax and elongate. I turned him on his back and allowed his legs to lengthen and as I did, Stan's body began to arch. I placed my arms under the small of Stan's back and assisted him to attain this new position. I turned him on the table so his head and shoulders hung down on one side, his legs on the other. Stan's body got rigid again. The position of arching the body is so open that it typically evokes a fear of vulnerability. 'stan, what are you feeling?" He replied, 'really afraid!" "Of what? " I asked. "No protection." "What does your body want to do?" Stan didn't respond but his body started to tremble and jerk spasmodically. As I continued to support Stan in his arched position, I further added, "Exposing your heart is frightening, Stan, I know, but has trying to build a wall around it worked for you? Can you mend your broken heart by locking it up? Without risking, will you ever be able to love?" At that, Stan's head dropped softly, his legs relaxed, his arms extended over his head. I turned him so he could lie fully on the table. Stan's body was completely relaxed. As the session continued, Stan became more serene. "You know, I have never felt so unguarded and vulnerable and yet, I feel light and free. I"ve never felt so free." Stan looked at peace. During further sessions, I learned the story of Stan's childhood beatings at the hands of an inebriated, violent father. He recounted his history, initially with heartbreaking sadness, then with rage, and finally with the inevitable curiosity about the "why" of it. Stan grew stronger with every session, became interested in exploring the meaning of his life, and of life, and started to practice yoga. Many months after our last treatment session, I ran into Stan once again, in Breckenridge, Colorado. Out of a crowd Stan approached me enthusiastically. As he drew nearer, Stan raised his arm and held up his index finger. "If you are flipping me off, you're holding up the wrong finger," I quipped. Stan laughed and replied, "No man! It just means one." "One what?" I asked. "One year since I have had a headache, that's what!" "Awesome," was my heart felt response. As Stan turned to leave to attend a meeting, he had one further comment for me. "Doctor Sid, let me tell you, that sh__ you do really works!" Myofascial ReleaseFascia is connective tissue, a continuous network that extends from the soles of the feet to the top of the head, according to John Barnes. It is tough, fibrous, and spreads throughout the body like a three-dimensional web. Even if all other structures were removed from the body except for fascia, the body would still retain its shape. Fascia covers the muscles, bones, nerves, organs and vessels down to the cellular level. Clinical evidence has shown that fascial restrictions cause pain, malfunction and debilitating bodily symptoms. Their removal restores function, eliminates pain, and facilitates healing. It was Dr. Ida Rolf who over four decades ago discovered the importance of fascia, how to release it, and developed a method of bodywork designed to restructure the body to function optimally. Her system, formally called structural integration and often labeled Rolfing (a copyrighted logo), includes ten or more sessions during which the practitioner follows a recipe or a prescribed process for all persons. I was trained in this methodology and practiced structural integration for a number of years. My teacher was Dr. Ed Maupin, Rolf's seventh trainee. A physical therapist, John E Barnes, more recently developed a system of Myofascial Release that employs the application of sustained pressure by the therapist on the body of the patient held until I changes in the fascia are perceived by the practitioner. Each individual receives treatment unique to the needs of that patient, without following a dictated format. Although I still employ elements of structural integration and myofascial release techniques, it was after my training with John Barnes that I began using "Guided Healing Touch" Guided Healing TouchChanneling is being a conduit between inner sources of intelligence, knowledge, and wisdom and those give such communications. Those able to channel may hear inner guidance or spoken works, receive impressions of thought and ideas, see visual images, or learn to understand the language of energy. While channeling, the individual is in an altered state but unlike a medium, there is no loss of consciousness. The channel is aware of all that is being received and communicated. I have used the label Guided Healing Touch to describe a therapy that connects patients to unseen Healers via the hands of the practitioner. Instead of channeling communications, the practitioner channels energy, techniques, and restructuring and transformational movements. To be able to do Guided Healing Touch, the practitioner must enter an altered state of consciousness, distinguish between voluntary and involuntary movements, and become an instrument in the "hands' of unseen, healing forces. The practitioner using Guided Healing Touch has no agenda, intention, or plan. All hands-on movements occur from inner direction. Intuitively touching a patient, sensing what is to be achieved, and facilitating a process is NOT part of GHT. The healing is completely automatic, without decision making, engaging intuition, or using voluntary touch. I began using Guided Healing Touch after a mystical transformational experience in 1996. Part of that transformation included an enormous change in how I did my healing work. Earlier in my career, I did a visual analysis of the patient, explored the patient's symptoms, obtained a clinical history, used my intuition and with the patients involvement, decided on a course of treatment. To accomplish the treatment goals, I used various techniques and procedures I had been trained to employ. The results I obtained were very favorable but I always felt something was missing. Therefore, I continued to seek information and training which eventually led me to John Barnes. Internally Guided MovementIt was John Barnes who taught me Myofascial Unwinding. John personally helped me to relive an auto accident that had occurred many years ago, the effects of which had never healed. My body spontaneously moved into positions associated with the collision. It was a deeply therapeutic experience for me, one I shall never forget, and it taught me the value and power of Myofascial Unwinding. It was during my training with John Barnes that I first experienced the automatic movement. The spontaneous movement of my body, that occurred on the table when I released the severe whiplash I received 20 years before, continued to occur whenever I did yoga or tai chi. I learned how to access that energy whenever I wished and it had a profound effect on me. It was as if a wise teacher guided my body into movements that were healing, balancing, strengthening, and uplifting. I came to call this Internally Guided Movement (IGM) and eventually learned how to teach it to others. It is like making God your personal trainer. Not only did this internal source of energy and wisdom guide me during my yoga practice, but one day as I was working on a patient, the same energy took over. My hands went to areas of the body without my conscious intent. Where I touched, how deeply, and the progression of the work were all guided by unseen Forces. Although I was totally aware of what was taking place, a portion of my consciousness was definitely altered so that I could immediately recognize the difference between my voluntary movements and the guided, channeled ones. Eventually I called this treatment Guided Healing Touch. In the past as I worked on people, I often could sense the presence of Healing Entities and I could also feel energies pass through my body into those on the table. When this guided movement began, however, my body completely became an instrument - a conduit - a medium used by loving, powerful, Spiritual Sources. It was as if I disappeared - so that what I did, how I touched, the sequence of techniques, the pressures applied - were all completely channeled. I learned for this to happen, I had to give intent and I had to get out of the way. The gift I could give my patients was being able to remove myself and my ego from the process and allow these loving, knowledgeable healing forces to directly assist those on the table. In that state, my body is taken from place to place on the patient. My hands have a life of their own, palpating, tractioning, and transmitting energy. Sometimes the energy is so strong, I feel like a leaf in the wind. During the early stage of this transformation, I questioned what "I" was doing and why. Instead of following a logical, organized procedure, e.g. release the feet, legs, and hips in sequence, I would be taken around the body in a circuit, going from head to foot, from side to side without understanding why. I made so many laps around the table, it felt like cardiovascular exercise! Eventually I realized I was doing work based on energetic rather than anatomical considerations. Energetic connections were being addressed, repaired, and opened in addition to physical structures. During Guided Healing Touch, the depth of my hands penetrating into the body deepened dramatically to the chagrin of my patients. For a while, I could not explain to my very interested patients why I had to work so deeply and apply so much pressure. I tried blaming it on 'them" and suggested if it was too deep to "pray"! That didn't go over too well, but the results were astounding and no one argued about that. Ultimately, I learned that certain energy centers lie deeply embedded within the core of the body. When blocked, exhaustion and depletion result. In order to free these energy centers, deep pressure can be required. As challenging as this deep work is, I have done Guided Healing Touch with the very young and the very elderly. Their boundaries of tolerance were always respected. Energetic HealingModern science tells us that the human organism is not just a physical structure made up of molecules, but that we are composed of energy fields. The basic building blocks of matter suggested by Newtonism physics had to be abandoned as physicists discovered that on the subatomic level, matter does not exist. To a physicist or a mystic, the whole universe appears as a dynamic web of inseparable energy patterns. According to Barbara Brennan, author of Hands of Light, the human energy field is the manifestation of universal energy that is involved with human life. Called an aura, the energy field surrounds and interpenetrates the physical body. It is divided into layers each of higher vibration with its own function and associated with a chakra, a wheel of light, or vortex of energy. Each chakra draws energy from the universal field and the more energy we absorb, the healthier we are. Conversely, illness in the system is caused by an imbalance of energy or an energy blockage. We are more than physical beings. Indeed, we are beings of light and consciousness. Deep within the core of who we are, we discover Divinity. Disease has its basis in forgetting who we are, in separating ourselves from our Source, and living in a world of illusion. Yogis use the word maya to describe the world of appearances. True healing is ultimately learning who we are, transcending the seductive world of maya, and returning to our Source. Specifically, energetic healing rebalances the energy field, repairs damage to chakras, opens them, removes energy cysts, clears the aura, and helps the individual to align and harmonize all aspects of themselves: physical, emotional, mental, energetic and spiritual. True healing can occur only when all aspects of the person are considered, not just any one. Total healing requires Holistic Healing. Healing FrancisI began experimenting with energetic healing in 1991 after Francis fell from a cliff onto a rocky landscape. She landed on a jagged rock that drove her heel bone into the bone above it, the talus bone, pulverizing and severing all blood supply to it. It was a miracle that she wasn't killed but the impact with the rock propelled her backward onto a small open area uncluttered by the sharp rocks laying everywhere else. The experienced surgeon who saw her x-rays was shocked at the extent of the damage and was very pessimistic about her chance for recovery. He was certain even after extensive repair of the ankle including four 2-inch pins that, because of the lack of blood supply, Francis would develop avascular necrosis, i.e. bone deterioration from the lack of blood supply. Would she walk again? The prognosis was guarded. Francis suffered intractable pain and had to use analgesics constantly. Nothing more could be done for her medically. Sycronistically, one of my colleagues called to tell me that Barbara Brennan was scheduled to do training in San Diego. She had written a best selling book called Hands of Light, on energetic healing. I decided to enroll in her four day workshop with the hope I could enlist Brennan herself to aid my patient. Unfortunately, that didn't work, so I had to use my own resources. After completing the training with Brennan, with all of four days of experience under my belt, I decided to try my hand at healing, no pun intended. As I was putting Francis on the table ready to follow the procedures I had learned, two memories came back to me: Over 20 years ago, I had the good fortune to have been introduced to Olga and Ambrose Worrall. They were well known healers who had written a book entitled, A Gift of Healing. During my time with them, Olga had asked me if I knew I was a healer, had a special gift in that regard, and told me to be sure to touch my patients whenever I could. At that time I was a psychologist doing research with LSD as a treatment for hospitalized psychiatric patients and the terminally ill. Most of my contacts with patients were verbal, but I touched whenever possible. I also remembered my Jewish mother's treatment for all manner of illnesses and conditions: an enema! When confronted about the usefulness of the enema for anything, - financial worries, acne, poor grades - she would always say the same thing: "Vell, it couldn't hurt!" So, I thought that at least what I was about to do for Francis "Couldn't hurt." Was I wrong! When I began to do the hands on healing, I was completely surprised by what I personally experienced. I got very sick to my stomach, became so hot I could hardly bear it, and got so dizzy I thought I would pass out. "Wow," I thought, "If this is healing, I"m going to die!" I was totally unprepared for the energy going through me, and what I was picking up from Francis. Then, as the treatment progressed, I felt as if my arms and hands were being interpenetrated by some unseen person putting their non-corporeal arms through mine into Francis. Then I was certain I had lost it! Yet, the experience was very emotionally moving. I felt an incredible sense of love in the room. Somehow I survived Francis' treatment. I said nothing to Francis, who was in an altered state of consciousness, about what I was experiencing. Her feedback to me afterward included her perceptions of intense heat and her awareness of healing entities. After that treatment, Francis no longer needed pain medication. I continued doing weekly hands-on healing with her, and after three months, her x-ray revealed, to her doctor's amazement, the beginning of circulation to the talus bone. By year's end, she was walking and bike riding. Francis' treatment is an example of 'the melding of the sciences' : traditional medicine, spiritual healing, and alternative healthcare. As I continued to do the healing work, the experiences became more intense. For help and training, I sought out Rosalyn Bruyere, one of Brennan's teachers, and an extraordinary healer. She had written Wheels of Light, which was her first of a series of books on the chakras, i.e., energy centers. Rosalyn was incredibly helpful to Francis as well as myself. She taught me more about energetic healing and on two occasions, treated Francis directly. Rosalyn Bruyere is a wonderful channel and mentor, with an energy field the size of New York. If I am within 50 yards of her, I perspire from the energy of her presence. From the time of my first healing experience with Francis, I began doing yoga and tai chi. I had to find something that would help me to rewire myself to handle the energy coming through me. I also decided to learn more healing techniques and systems, so I enrolled at the International Professional School of Body Work in San Diego. In three years, I earned a diploma in Holistic Health and became a Holistic Health Practitioner. Thereafter, I sought further training with John Barnes and began doing Guided Healing Touch. Once the Guided Healing Touch began, an energy source beyond anything I had ever experienced bolted through my body into my patients. Though I could access the Guided Healing Touch whenever I gave intent, the powerful energy transmissions occurred unpredictably. There were also times I would receive inspiration about the nature of the patient's condition, clinical insights, information about the patient's history, and other kinds of channeled communication. These came periodically, I suppose only when needed. The very discernible presence of Guides and Healers occurred routinely, both to my patients and myself. When feeling their closeness, I often find myself saying the word "awesome," for truly it is! As I have become more adept at recognition, I can perceive them coming and going. There are those that work with me, those who come in with the patient, and specialists who come to do a unique task. When I work with children, I often prepare them for the possibility of intervention by saying, "You know, if we are very fortunate, an angel might come to help us make you better. So if you feel something like feathers brush your skin or sense one is present, let me know, okay?" I usually get a big-eyed nod from my table pal. Later in the treatment I am likely to feel a pull on my pant leg. "Oh, you feel an angel, right? I"ll bet the angel is touching your sore foot, huh?" Vigorous nodding and a wonderful grin is their response to my question. Working with kids (and animals) is really cool! Thought Field TherapyCan you imagine an energetic technique for healing deep-seated emotional pain, fears, phobias, and life long negative habits, in a matter of minutes? Not only does such a technique exist, but it can be taught to patients, so that they can use it whenever the need arises. It was psychologist Roger Callahan, who developed the therapeutic specialty, he called Thought Field Therapy (TFT). Derived from ancient Chinese theories on bioenergies, TFT combines Western therapeutic cognitive approaches with Eastern accupressure techniques. TFT is based on the premise that energy, thoughts, emotions and the body are interrelated and operate as an intelligent and fully communicating system. Emotions are believed to result from the influence of electromagnetic energy, created by our thoughts and the electrical and chemical changes that occur within the body when we experience emotions. Psychologists Peter Lambrou and George Pratt have expanded upon Thought Field Therapy. Their research and experience with over 6,000 patients achieved a 95% success rate in rapidly relieving acute and chronic psychological problems. TFT works by unblocking trapped emotional feedback patterns within the energetic system. This is accomplished through a specific set of protocols that stimulate acupoints associated with the emotions. By tapping relevant acupoints and simultaneously envisioning one's emotional problems, the mind/body is able to clear away energy blockages. This allows trapped emotions to flow freely, while restoring physical, emotional and mental balance. The fact that we are energetic beings gives us polarities; magnetic fields that can sometimes become reversed, preventing healing. In one study, 80% of breast cancer patients had reversed polarities Thus, underlying the healing intentions (thoughts) of many people are attitudes and conflicts that sabotage their improvement. I have often found, in people that have failed to heal, death wishes, or unconscious desires to be punished, for unforgivable transgressions. When these hidden conflicts are exposed, and resolved, healing can proceed. Changing Randall's Thought FieldRandall was a commercial airline pilot, who loved his career. While on vacation with his wife, he began to experience a sense of dread and foreboding. Unable to understand the cause of his feelings, he became distant and upset. It was then he received telephone call informing him that his 15 year old daughter had been in a very serious auto accident. He and his wife immediately returned to Chicago, arriving at the hospital only to learn that their beloved daughter has died 15 minutes before. The shock and pain of this loss overwhelmed Randall, and his grief was inconsolable. His grief and his mourning lasted far beyond the funeral. He would spontaneously begin to cry at inappropriate times. He sensed that he was losing control, but the extent of his impairment became obvious when he tried to return to work. Randall, upon entering his aircraft, began to panic, feeling trapped. He was sweating profusely, having heart palpitations, and was unable to remain on board. A string of visits to doctors and therapists followed, some that prescribed drugs, or offered counseling, and others considered hospitalization. Neither tranquilizers, antidepressants, nor talk therapy provided relief. Randall's job was at stake, his marriage strained, and his hold on reality was slipping. He learned how to survive, so that he didn't have to be hospitalized, but had to be given disability leave from his work. Over a year after his daughter's death, Randall sought my help. As he told me his story, the agony on his face was painful to observe; the lines of suffering were deeply etched in his face. When I asked him to visualize the cause of his grief, his pain seemed unbearable. I then instructed him to tap specific acupoints while continuing to visualize the loss of his daughter. Within 5 minutes, his facial expression was transmuted from the agony distorted features; first a softening and relaxation of the lines, then bewilderment, and then joy, as his pain seemed to dissolve. This was the first relief from mourning for Randall in over a year! Randall smiled radiantly and said, 'this is bizarre, but I feel great" I replied, "Randall, it is bizarre, but what you are likely to find, is that your relief will be permanent. The worst that can happen, is we would need to repeat this protocol." Randall then said, " I know this sounds crazy, but it feels like my daughter is right here with us, laughing happily." When I last heard from Randall, he was once again flying high! The Role of the HealerThe help extended by Divine sources is always available to us when needed and sincerely requested. Why is it, I mused, that a healer is often required to facilitate and intervene? From my experience, it takes the power of a healer to offset the resistant and negative effects of fear, psychological defenses, neurotic vigilance, and lack of faith. The patient's power is lost or dissipated by worry, insecurity, pessimism and confusion. A patient's covert self-destructive attitudes can sabotage healing and block recovery. A clear, confident, focused practitioner can help to overcome negative forces temporarily until the patient's own resources can be mobilized. By instilling hope and faith and inspiring confidence, a healer can help to initiate a positive change in the patient's vibrations and stop the drain of life force from his/her energy field. In order for the unseen and loving help of Spirit to provide the utmost help, the highest level of energy possible is administered. If the patient's life force is diminished and his/her vibrations are low, a high level of Spiritual energy would be overwhelming. Thus, if healing is to be provided at a tolerable level, metaphorically speaking, it can be given only in a "low dose." With the addition of a healer, operating at a higher frequency, the patient's energy can be elevated, allowing for intervention at an increased level of power. The Energetic Hook-UpAnother phenomenon that occurs between a healer and patient during a treatment is an energetic hook-up. I often feel the weaker system of the patient become psychically connected to mine. During such bonding, my body can do some of the work the patient's weakened body is unable to accomplish. It is like I become a dialysis machine, clearing, cleansing, detoxifying, strengthening, and freeing the patient's impaired body and energy field with my own. During such a union, I feel what the patient feels, I experience the patient's symptoms, and sometimes I"m left with them after the healing session is complete. Every healer must learn how to handle and dissipate energy "pus." The importance of maintaining the healer's body, the instrument of healing, at the highest level of fitness and energy is a solemn responsibility and cannot be over emphasized. The healer must learn to be very attuned to his/her body, recognize negative drains, and know how to take appropriate corrective action. Learning how to detoxify and recharge, stay in balance, maintain space in the schedule, and play are necessary for every healer. Daily use of transformational exercises such as yoga, cardiovascular exercise, prayer and meditation can help to revitalize, increase vibrational levels, and increase the healer's power. Hydration, the ingestion of large amounts of water is an absolute must for all healers! We're talking about a gallon a day. In the beginning, I had to split my time between the table and the bathroom but water for the healer is essential. Correction vs. TransformationAlthough many people who seek my help come for the correction of a health problem, I observed that what they ultimately, received was transformation. The less burdened they were by disabling difficulties, the quicker I observed that Spirit was providing much more than healing. It appears that patients were being 'rewired," recirculated; better equipped for processing energy. Their bodies were being structurally changed to allow for energy movement in channels and flows that had never been possible before. I was awed (there is that word again) by the process facilitated before me. Even before my patients had discovered what was taking place within them, I knew they had been transformed because fundamental energetic changes had been made. It was like redesigning and upgrading a computer by replacing old equipment with new high tech components. From the outside, the equipment looks the same but on the inside, there is no comparison as to what it is now capable of doing. I often think of the family, friends and associates of those being renewed and I wish I could warn them to hold on and fasten their seat belts. Changes are typically made quickly, dramatically, and sometimes at warp speed. As energy is released, action is likely to occur. Stuck relationships, careers, ambitions, travel, spiritual issues, etc. often get rapid and forceful attention. People who had been immobilized for years make changes. Guess what! It is awesome to see. Watch out world for those who have cleared their energy circuits!
