Body Talk Systems
by Sid Wolf PhD
You can't imagine how often we are asked to try a new product, read this book, or attend that work shop; it can get old. So it happened about 3 years ago when we were visiting Costa Rica and the beautiful Pura Vida yoga resort. One of the managers handed us a book called Body Talk Systems, by an Australian named John Veltheim. We were not at all inclined to read any 'work stuff' on vacation, so the book came home with us, later got a quick flip though, then shelved...for another year! Then, inexplicably, both Amber and I picked it up one long winter's night. Wouldn't you know, we both had a big 'ah ha' moment, and then the Body Talk ball was rolling in our lives...full speed ahead.
Veltheim himself made an appearance in Boulder at a conference and we attended. Here is the surprising thing: in all my years in practice, treating a wide variety of illness and dis-ease, what I had not seen was a system that encompasses western medicine, the energy dynamics of acupuncture, osteopathy, chiropractic, and the clinical findings of kinesiology PLUS the insight of modern physics and mathematics, until I found Body Talk. Now, having received in depth training, I am excited and pleased to offer Body Talk in my practice, truly treating the patients as a whole.
Energy Medicine has been said to be the medicine of the future. Body Talk is that system of energy medicine, here and now. Body Talk is a unique, holistic modality; a new paradigm for balancing and synchronizing the body mind complex and is now being taught worldwide.
How can one system of energy medicine be so inclusive? It’s the underlying philosophy of the Body Talk System that creates a cohesive whole from the sum of many parts. In each of us there is a delicate balance between biochemical functions, emotional and mental interactions, environmental influences, hereditary and genetic restrictions, and the need to integrate all these factors. This enormous complexity of variables has resulted in health care modalities that address or specialize only on fixing parts. Trying to address the entire complex has been viewed as too daunting a task. In modern, traditional medicine, and holistic practices there is a need to ‘specialize’, to focus on parts. We know, however, that the whole is greater that the sum of its parts and that to ‘fix’ a part it is often necessary to address the entire system.
We each contain an innate intelligence that is aware of all aspects of our body/mind complex: energy cells, bodily functions, and levels of consciousness. This innate wisdom carries the answer to our health care dilemma. Since the innate wisdom has the inborn ability to heal itself at all levels, the Body Talk practitioner can call upon this ‘innate’ to heal and balance the body’s diverse energy systems.
In practice, Body Talk is an astonishingly simple and effective form of therapy that allows the body’s energy systems to be integrated and synchronized to allow for optimum functioning. When operating at its peak, each system, cell and atom is in constant communication with each other. Because of stress, traumas, injuries and invasions, the lines of communication become compromised, which can lead to physical, motional and mental health problems.
A Body Talk practitioner will, during a session, establish communication with the innate wisdom of the body by using neuromuscular biofeedback (this is sometimes known as ‘muscle testing’). The Innate can then lead the practitioner to locate body imbalances and communicate problems. Once known, healing procedures can be instituted immediately, by awakening the brain to the problem in facilitating communication within the body/mind complex and engaging the immune system. Following the brain’s awakening, the new information is then stored and synchronized in the body. This process accelerates the healing and returns the body to balance.
Body Talk is simple, safe and quick to take effect. Because the Body Talk System allows the body’s own healing abilities to effect the change, clients experience long lasting and ongoing improvements in health.
As a practitioner, student and recipient of Body Talk, I have been amazed at the discoveries and results I have received and facilitated. My patients are often astounded at what Innate reveals and what healing results are attained. For the purposes of this article, I will give a few of the hundreds of examples of the communications and healing I have observed and facilitated.

What the Mind Forgets
A woman in her forties was receiving a Body Talk session when her innate ‘told’ me that scars were a priority; somewhere a scar was interfering with the meridian energy of the body. In my experience, scars and adhesions come up a priority frequently because they can block the flow of energy through meridians, impair the circulation of blood and lymph, and cause pain either locally or referred to other areas. In this case, I checked the few scars the patient informed me of and they were not the ones being singled out for treatment. The patient said she had no other scars for me to check so I went back to communicating withy her innate intelligence. In essence, I asked innate where the scars were that were causing trouble. Innate directed me to the lateral (outside) of the patient’s left thigh just above the knee. I asked the patient if she had a scar there and she said no. I asked if we could actually look at the area, so she pulled up her jeans enough to reveal two small scars in the exact location innate had designated. She was shocked, exclaiming. “Oh, I forgot. I was in Hawaii about 18 months ago and was stung by a jelly fish.” Once the scars were located, I treated them to eliminate the painful symptoms they were causing.
The Miracle of the Hyena
I was treating a 26 year woman from South Africa; Francie. During the session, her innate informed me that when she was nine years old, she had a confusing experience that was still troubling her. This memory involved an animal so I inquired of innate about what kind of animal is was: dog, cat, or farm animal. Innate only indicated that it was an unusual animal, but that the patient would know, and no further details were forthcoming. I shared this information with Francie; her innate intelligence had said that at nine years old she had an encounter with an unusual animal that was still affecting her. Without hesitation, she identified the animal; “It was a hyena.” “It was a what?” I questioned incredulously. Francie said that she was with her parents camping in the bush when a pack of hyenas appeared. She was delighted and intrigued and wanted to play, so she opened her arms in welcome, while her parents, who were a short distance away, were freaking out, as you might imagine! As her parents panicked, one hyena approached Francie and passed under her outstretched hand so that she could stroke it from head to tail. This was an extraordinary moment, almost mystical, for the beautiful nine-year old in the midst of those wild creatures. Her terrified parents finally reached her and whisked her away. It was the combination of innocence, delight, and panic that left a charged and confusing imprint on her psyche, which subsequently intruded into her life.
From the memory it was possible to sort out the trail of life experiences that disturbed her when joyful moments suddenly produced panic. Using a Body Talk technique, that early experience was released from her body and consciousness and now she is free to experience new adventures.
The Price of a Memory
The path leading to ‘Sara’s’ healing was not obvious to her. She was carrying a ‘charged memory’ and sought my help because of sexual issues that that been troubling her for years, including: difficulty having orgasms, lack of enjoyment from intercourse, and physical discomfort and pain form sexual intimacy. During a Body Talk session, her innate indicated that Sara had a painful experience when she was 16 that is still causing her great difficulty. Her innate ‘told’ me that the incident involved a boy from her school, that he was not a boyfriend nor was there a relationship, and that sex was involved. This information from innate came from yes/no non-verbal questions I asked based on the Body Talk protocol. The recipient of the Body Talk treatment is not aware of this communication until I relate it verbally.
I asked Sara to tell me what happened at age 16 with a boy from school, she was not in a relationship with and involved sex. She squirmed uncomfortably at the revelation, but described the encounter she had with a casual acquaintance. She was with a boy who was aggressive, pushed her for sex and she submitted. That incident was very traumatic for her, but she never told anyone or dealt with it, until that very moment I brought it to her attention. Using the Body Talk method for releasing charged memories, the energy associated with that painful experience was discharged. That memory, having been discharged, allowed Sara to begin a new chapter in her sexual life with her husband.
